WEATHER: in May, Provence has average daily highs of 18-23 degrees celsius or 64 -74 degrees Fahrenheit which is perfect for touring and sightseeing.
Chateau des Fines Roches: A medieval building steeped in history. Between the Avignon bridge and Orange's roman theatre, the walks in Camargue and the sweetness of a provençal night, the region is rich in discoveries, unprecedented experiences, strolls and all sorts of leisures. In addition to the wonderful vineyards which makes this village a unique place, it presents numerous vestiges like the castle in ruins, Popes previous summer residence and of course, later on, the Fines Roches. Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s original pontifical castle is in ruins, but a second castle, this one a neoclassical château on a hilltop overlooking the vineyards and the village, lives on as a luxury hotel. Hostellerie du Château des Fines Roches exudes old-world grandeur. Highlights include a courtyard swimming pool, a fireplace lounge, a tranquil spa, and an elegant restaurant with terrace seating overlooking the vineyards.
Chateau La Coste Wine Estate, Art Centre and Gastronomy Centre: Chateau La Coste is a 600-acre sculpture park, art destination and organic winery in Provence. Our vineyard near Aix-en-Provence combines a rich history with a winemaking tradition since Roman times. Our estate extends over 200 hectares, in a setting of vineyards, cypresses, umbrella pines, olive trees and oaks. Also, today the artistic walk collection throughout the estate includes more than forty artistic works, ranging from sculpture to installation and works of architecture. "This art and architecture walk is a moment of harmony with nature, it offers a meditative break and the works question our relationship to things, to nature and to our environment."
Chateau de Cremat: Since 1906, the Château de Crémat has been an iconic landmark of the French Riviera. The history of the cultivation of vines on the future plots of Château de Crémat dates back to the time of the Roman Empire, at that time a legion settled on the place called Li Plana di Mari which was used for the cultivation of olive trees and vines. Later, in 1906, Antoine Mari, a wine merchant, had the castle built on the underground galleries of Li Plana di Mari used in Roman times for oil and wine, they became the cellars of the castle. In 2001, a lover of Bellet wine acquired the castle: the Dutchman Cornelis Kamerbeek. Its objective: to regain its historic surface area of 25 hectares and this program is taking shape with the expansion and modernization of the cellars, the installation of new sales and tasting rooms and a special attention to the vineyard. In 2017, the estate was placed in judicial liquidation and bought by an entrepreneur from Nice, Daniel Derichebourg.
Pavillon Bouachon: Everything started in 1898 when the Bouachon family moved to Châteauneuf-du-Pape to start making barrels for the winemakers of the region. After several years they learned the secrets of winemaking and decided to fill in their barrels with their own wine this time. That is how the Maison Bouachon was born! Nowadays, Le Pavillon is a treasure chest of the Maison Bouachon, the center of wine tourism where you can live many great experiences: visit our cellars, taste our wines, participate in workshops and ateliers, grands crus wine parties, etc. Accompanied by our sommeliers you will get a full immersion into the magical world of wine.
About your Tapenade Workshop:
The Tapenade workshop is a best-seller for anyone wanting to share a convivial, local experience with your tour members. After an introduction to the olive tree and the different ways in which olives can be used to make oil, olive paste and tapenade.....aprons, mortars and pestles are provided to each guest. Then you get to work making a black and/or green olive tapenade!. The Provençal culinary workshop is enhanced by comments on production methods, Provencal anecdotes and other culinary tips in a convivial atmosphere. A tasting on toast of the tapenades created by you, then closes the animation with the informed comments of a specialist.
